Acer eRecovery Management Password Issue
Today I was about to restore an Acer M1641 when a ran into trouble. This was supposed to be a simple task. Rebooted the machine and pressed ALT+F10 to boot from the hidden partition that contains the factory image of the entire system. Then just selected to restore to factory default and then came the prompt to input the eRecovery password to continue. I went to google looking for a default password for this and in fact, I found several posts stating that the default password was "000000". Well, it wasn't on this machine. So I called the computer owner asking for this password but he told me he never changed this. After struggling a lot and lose many hours, I finally found the solution. It appears that the new Acers no longer come with a default password. You have to set one before you can use the eRecovery feature. So I let windows load. Went into eRecovery Management and set the password. Problem solved :)
